July 2010 Themed Contest
"A Favorite Recipe"
" Prepare something yummy-licious and photograph it. If you can, be sure to include the recipe!

Contest runs from July 1, 2010 to August 31, 2010
ENTRIES DUE AT MIDNIGHT August 31, 2010 Pacific Time

Rules:

• Contest Title Open to interpretation.
• New and old work permitted.
• Photograph must NOT have been posted on Photochimps prior to the start of the contest.
• Color or Black & White, Digital or Film. Any format is allowed.
• One photo entry per person please.
• Please upload your entry to this thread.***See hints below
• Any amount of PS/Post Processing is allowed.
• Photo should be no larger than 800x600 +/-
• The entry may be disqualified if:
  • the above rules are violated,
  • the theme and/or special instructions are not followed or
  • the photo is deemed inappropriate.
• Be sure to include a title as well as a brief description with the photo.

Judging/Voting:

• Judging will begin September 1, 2010 and last until September 8, 2010.
• Every PC member will get one vote.
• Please do not vote for your own entry.
• We will tally the votes and announce a winner on September 9, 2010.
• If there are less than 3 entries no winner will be announced.
• If there are 10 or more entries there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
• In the event of a Tie, a short tie-breaker poll will decide 1st, and 2nd place.

Winners:
The winners and the winning photographs of the monthly contest will be posted in the Contest Winners forum as well as in the recent Contest Winners Section of the Photochimps Gallery.

Grand Prize Winners:
We will be tallying all of the votes every member receives in every photography contest including the POTM contest throughout the year (to the end to 2010). This means that even if you don’t win any individual contest you still have a chance at the Grand Prize simply by entering.

The member with the most votes overall will receive a beautiful 12x16” print (of their choice).
Second and Third place winners will receive a beautiful 8x12” print (of their choice).
Bonus Participation Prize: To thank members for their participation there will also be a bonus random draw for an additional 8x12” print. To be eligible for this draw you must enter images into at least 8 themed or technical contest through out the year (there will be at least 24 contest this year). Winners of the First, Second, or Third place prints will NOT be eligible for the bonus draw.
The winners will be able to choose their print from either Tom’s, Todd’s, chaud's or Barbara's (bread) gallery or website.

We've decided to extend this month's themed contest to the end of August, so it's not too late to photograph something delicious! But the way July seemed to slip right by, you don't want to dawdle too long, because before you know it, it'll be September!

FYI, if there are no further entries by the end of August, the contest will be canceled since a minimum of three entries is required for a contest to proceed. Hopefully there are folks still interested entering the contest, but just needed a little extra time.

There is no reason we can't proceed with the previously announced August contest themes, so get your entries ready!

My favourite dessert coffee:

• 1 part Grand Marnier
• 1 part Kahlua
• Whipped Cream
• Cherry
• Coffee

...and you can sugar coat the rim, if you like.

Simple but yummy!

Shish Kabobs...yum! Kabobs are a favorite in our house.

I made pork kabobs using a new marinade recipe last night. Skewering and barbecuing by Fred.




Pork Kabobs

1 1/4 lb. boneless lean pork loan
your favorite fresh veggies...we used mushrooms, onions, green peppers and tomatoes

Marinade:

2 tbs. fresh lemon juice
2 tsp. finely chopped garlic
1 tbs. dried sage
2 tbs. soy sauce
2 tbs. red wine vinegar (I used balsamic vinegar)
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
2 tbs. honey
2 tbs. olive oil
ground pepper to taste

Combine all marinade items and mix meat with it.
Let marinate in refrigerator for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Arrange meat and veggies on skewers and grill.
Baste meat and veggies with marinade while grilling.
