Question RAW Viewer

Anyone know of a new version of Microsoft RAW Image Viewer/Thumbnailer that is compatible with the Canon 50D RAW file format?

Thanks !!!

Good question. I dont think MS has ever upgraded that software. I have it and glad I can still use it.

According to the MS RAW viewer download page, it says that it is incapable of supporting newer cameras that were released after the Canon 5D, Nikon D50, D70s & D200 bodies.

But if you google Raw Viewers, you can find a host of free & pay software that are pretty recent.

Best of luck to you!

I can view the RAW files of the 50D by simply using the Canon software. What I was hoping for is a "thumbnailer" that would work when viewing contents of the folder.

I have one for Vista that lets me see my 30D raw files without opening a viewer. But I don't use it much, since Photo Mechanic is my main browser, and it already has raw support built in

I own the 50D and the thumbnail viewer does not work with the RAW files. I am a big fan of Lightroom, and they just released version 2.1, which updates to read the 50D RAW files.

Both Canon and Nikon have codecs you can installed that will let you view RAW images through the normal thumbnail process. Just google nef codec for example.
