Ok for me flat out I don't care if I want to take video I will use my video camera.

I briefly looked at video cameras and found them way more confusing than still cameras. I like that I can shoot videos with my dSLR (the Pentax K-7 can), though I admit I use my iPhone most of the time. And the videos I usually shoot are less than a minute. I had vague thoughts of doing more, but haven't gotten around to it.

Long ago I shot a few thousand feet of 8mm film, but haven't looked at them for decades. With a slight modification video capability should enable automatic bracketing with its HDR potential. That's the only advantage, and so far I don't do HDR.

I plan to buy a DSLR in the spring (assuming my savings stay on track) and having basic 1280x720p, 30 fps video would be nice. But if the camera that I can afford has the features I'm looking for but no video, I would go for it. Nice but not important.

I didn't think about the video in my recent upgrade. But I've made a few, so I like it.
