That is a very rare shot. The last official fireworks in the Soviet Latvia. Date 1990 9th of May. Place – Riga. For those who don’t know there were only state organized fireworks in the Soviet Union. And only during several ideologically important holidays, only at 10 pm. And only a certain number of volleys throughout the big cities and they were shot simultaneously. It was done by the army. 9th of May is the Victory Day in Russia. Latvia had its own opinion and that year broke from the Soviet Union so it’s the LAST official fireworks. A year later the Soviet Union disintegrated. I was in Riga for several days. The shot was taken from the bridge over Dvina. Camera – 6x6 Kiev, color negative film, lens – “Volna” fisheye. Of course there was a tripod. I don’t remember other details.

great capture of the fireworks and cityscape, excellent info about the special occasion. i like how you shot this as a wide landscape instead of focusing on the fireworks too much.

In addition to all of Beth's feedback, I'd like to add that the color palette is wonderful. Thanks for sharing this.
