I've always wanted to try this. Your exif says the exposure time was just over 30 minutes. Did you use an external battery/battery pack? I didn't think the camera battery would last that long. To get the circular pattern, do you point the camera on the North star?

I have the extra battery/grip with both the 20D and the 5D. It holds two Batteries. I could go for a long time (hours, not sure) iwth the batterys fully charged. Yes the camera was pointed at the NORTH star.
