I downloaded a Gothic Glow action, and I tried it on this. I don't know if it is the one that Barbara made famous, I don't even know if you can see it here. I have to fool with it to see what I can do with it.

i think gothic glow works best on bigger things such as landscapes, buildings, cars, etc.. not so great for macro or street photos. yes, that is a filter that barabara uses quite often.
something you may want to try is taking the gothic glow image from the new window and copying it over the image you ran the action on. then adjusting the opacity or even blending modes. often when i use it i do two gothic glow layers over the image, one set to 30% opacity on soft light, one set to 30% opacity on screen with a layer mask matching the blue channel to avoid brightening areas i don't want lightened.

Thanks Beth, I will try that. I know what you mean about macro shots not working well with this action, I wasn't all that happy with it. But I will try your suggestions. At least I will try.

Beautifully composed shot of a beautiful blossom. Love the rich color. I agree this isn't the best choice for the gg--I love dreamy flower shots, but think this image would benefit from having at least some of it in focus. I'd love to see the original. Glad you're having fun with Gothic Glow action--better be careful, though...it can be highly addictive.
