sorry, this just doesn't really do it for me. if the cat were looking at the camera, or if you got down on the level of the cat and showed more of the face, or got closer to the cat and showed less sidewalk then i think it would work better... also the exposure is dark. nice detail and dof.

Frenchie is a pretty kitty--it was very considerate of her to pose for you. Beth has made some excellent suggestions for next time Frenchie decides to pose--my cats would never have been so cooperative. I like your photo--the sidewalk makes for a simple, uncluttered background. The dark stains in the sidewalk and light falloff 'behind' the cat creates a look reminiscent of vignetting which I like. The open space around Frenchie speaks to the solitary nature of cats, in general. The fact her eyes are closed shows she's doing her darnest to ignore you--how perfectly catlike. From what I can see from the small image you've posted, the depth of focus and sharpness look good. I hope Frenchie keeps posing for you--she is a pretty subject.

Thank you both for your comments. Frenchie usually desires attention, somewhat unusual for cats. He is my daughter's cat. I will try to use the suguestions the next time I catch him. Again thank you a lot.
