Now I like the b/g on this a little better. For a single subject, also try a zoom lens, move back a little bit. It's OK to snip off the top of her head a little bit to get in nice and tight. Look at magazine covers, you might see this. Angie, you might want to look into this book,...lots of tips on portraiture : http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photog...3277913&sr=1-3

You've brought up a little more texture in the hair this time. I like this cropping. John is right about using a longer lens for portraiture, especially outdoors. It lets you select the background with a little change in camera position. The background here is a bit bright in places. In some ways this is the best capture of Kat yet: She's not obviously trying to look her best for the camera, but looking naturally beautiful.

John-using a green selected from the photo, I airbrushed over some of the brighter highlights at about 65% transparency. It might benefit from repeating the procedure to tone them down just a little more.
Jim-your suggestions posted in the critique forum helped a great deal. Interestingly, Todd suggested I use my 80-200L and I chose instead to do some of them with the 50mm (borrowed) so I should have listened to voice of wisdom and I know better next time.
On a camera with an APS-C sensor, would distortion be the same or more prominent than with a full frame sensor?

If you frame the subject the same way, the APS-C gives the effect of a longer lens and less distortion in shots like some of Kat.
