Barbara is working at making new shots look old and here I am trying to make old shots look new. This is a reversed scan of one of the prizes in my vintage photo collection, a glass plate negative. I uncovered it while going through a box of photos I won at an auction and was quite happy. I estimate it to be 100 years old, maybe a little more. The women's white blouses say 19-0-something to me.

Actually, this is a shot of the Quality Assurance Team at the Nikon factory that passed my cameras when they were new.

They're a rather somber looking group. I also think its a little CW tilted. There looks to be a few dust specs to cleanup but otherwise looks to be in remarkable condition. How in the world did you convert this from glass plate to digital???

Somber-looking, yes, but remember that they were using some pretty long exposures in studio cameras and it's harder to hold a smile. I left this one tilted to maximize the coverage of the original. I haven't tried to clean up most of my scans of vintage items for "production" but the masters are archived. I scanned it on my Epson 1600 Expression using a its dedicated full-size transparency adapter.

Excellent work, Mike!!! I bet this looks better than the original print made from the negative.
