An old farm truck rests in peace, surrounded by a seemingly endless expanse of farmland which has also been given rest.

Nice composition and a very good B&W.

I agree. This is a good example of breaking the rule that vehicles should seem to face into the picture instead of towards the edge. I like the mood much better this way. It's sad to see what had been one of the all-time raciest pickups in this condition. It's too much like a once beautiful aging woman who has let herself go. The angle of the shot to catch the clouds in just the right position is commendable. That is often difficult with a WA lens. I'd like a little more shadow detail in the truck, but even the best of digital cameras do have limitations.

Thanks, Topcat and Jim, for the thoughtful feedback. The original image looks rather flat due to the angle of the light. I lost shadow detail while trying to give the image some depth. I tried another shot where the other side of the truck is aimed into the frame but it doesn't seem to capture the same sense of place as this one does for me. It's almost as if the truck is saying, "I used to work that land back there..." Most of the time the summer sky is a blank blue out here so it's nice to have the opportunity to work them into compositions every once in a while.

You captured the essence of the decaying truck and the endless expanse extremely well here.

I like the simplistic composition. It works really nicely here.
