Your help requested, please!
I made a beginner's attempt at this type of shot but I'd sure appreciate suggestions on how you would shoot it. F-stop, shutter speed, where to meter, etc. Also what processing touches would you put on it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Exposure looks perfect to me. Highlights are well exposed. Wonderful colors and beautiful sky.
Since you're looking for some pointers, here's a few...
When shooting sunset/sunrise: if the sun will be included in the composition, meter a portion of the sky excluding the sun then reframe your shot.
A lot of depth of field isn't needed with this type of shot, so set your aperture to a small f/number to give you a fast enough shutterspeed to handhold, or better yet, use a tripod. A general rule for handholding is 1/focal length unless you've got image stabilization (in the lens or camera).
The histogram is your friend. Use it to help guide you with exposures. For most scenes, you don't want it scrunched to the far left or far right.

Good exposure. And you left enough of the houses so that you had a base, but you didn't clutter the photo with all of the houses. I think that it was a great choice on your composition. Makes it a little mysterious.
