Ambling along a small woodland stream in Acadia NP my sister and I came upon these STRANGE fungi....they were the brightest red/burgundy unlike any I'd ever seen and were dinner plate sized.

Geez Louise, is everything out east a brilliant red? There is so much more fall colour in the east than there is in the west. Mind you, this fall we've had more colour than usual. Maybe it is because it has been so wet. Thanks for sharing this one with us, Russ.
