I prefer this one; the vertical lines seem to stretch the image higher. Kudos on keeping the lines parallel. I was able to find your line of sight via Local Live satellite imagery, keying on the greenhouse at the left. A fun exercise but a bit creepy of you think about it too much!

I prefer this one of the two as well. But I really like the upper left 1/4 of the horizontal version.

Thanks, Mike and Bethe.
I'm glad you both prefer this one. This is the more successful in printed as well. For one thing, I had forgotten to use a warming filter that I had used on the first. Once I saw the printed versions of both I realized I didn't like the filter effect at all. And I do like the vertical version anyway, it's what I remember most about that scene.
Bethe, I'm going to crop a duplicate of this image in order to concentrate just on the upper left with the curving lines. Unfortunately, I was on vacation when I got this image and I shot it through my hotel balcony window. I probably won't ever get to see this particular scene again.
Winger, I am fascinated that you could get my line of vision through Local Live satellite imagry. I'm totally behind the times and didn't even know about it or how to use it. I'll try to google it sometime for some scene. That is spooky!

Suzanne,
I just took a quick look at downtown Montreal on Google and saw that there weren't too many buildings as tall as the one in the upper left and took it from there. I scanned the blocks around tall buildings for the greenhouse and found it easily on Local Live. The next clues were the building under construction and the red structure on the roof of the red building from the horizontal shot. Google has the oldest image and the lot of the new building is still a parking lot. Local Live really takes you down there and when the Bird's Eye View feature is enabled it can really get "creepy" as you can look at different sides of a building.
I've used the regular images to scan country roads out here for barns. It has the potential of saving me some time in tracking them down. However sometimes the best shots are "accidental" finds.

Thanks, Fred, for your comment on the composition. I'm finding more and more that I like to photograph things with angles, lines, etc., also texture,
so buildings are a natural.
Mike, thank you for telling me about Local Live. Like I said before, I didn't know about it at all. It may be very useful around here, too, when I go looking for old buildings. But I do agree with you that sometimes the "accidental" finds are the best.

One thing I've noticed looking at your pictures is that you aren't afraid to get in and really FILL the frame. This is another fine example of that. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, Tom. It took me some time to catch on to that technique but I realize that I can isolate what I'm looking for.
