Being a displaced Maritimer I can almost smell the salt air. Thanks for posting this image. It's a treat.

The gull fills the right place in the photo and thus balances it. I've noticed the reflection only some time after looking at the image. Really the gull makes the photo.

With the rocks and setting, it really says "Maine". Especially with the gull. I also didn't see the reflection until I looked for it. Maybe a different shot that's just the reflection with rocks around it? But this shot stands well on its own.

The gull really makes this image. It nicely balances out the lighthouse.

Actually, I cheated a little. I had some burger buns that got wet in the cooler at my campsite. So I brought them along this particular morning hoping I could coax a hungry gull my way. These guys eat like pigs and they will hover there for quite awhile waiting for the next morsel. And that wet bread didn't go to waste.

I don't think that is cheating. When the Canon show used to be on the OLN network I watched a women coax bluebirds with meal worms she would put out of sight on a piece of driftwood. That is just smart!
One of the best captures I've seen on this site.

This is a dreamy shot - no matter which method you used to get it. Great fealing of openess & salty air.
