my favorite of your two waterfall shots, but wish the shadows were opened up a bit more. good color. composition is a little centered.

Thanks, Beth. I am still struggling with exposures and editing in Photoshop. I agree, the shadows need to be opened up, if only I knew how! Sigh.

in photoshop (sorry, i have cs2, not sure if its available with your version) go to the channels palette (behind the layers palette) and select the blue channel (hold down the ctrl button on a pc and click on the blue channel). then go back to the layer palette and create a curve adjustment layer (make sure you create a curves adjustment layer rather than just running curves on that layer, if you don't know what that is or have questions, pm me or reply here with your questions), the channel you selected will automatically fill into the mask. duplicate the curves channel mask, then on the top of the two curves adjustment layers invert the mask (click on the mask then image>adjustments>invert), double click on the curves icon on that layer then pull the midtones up (this will lighten your shadow areas). on the bottom of the two leave the mask as is (do NOT invert) then bring the midtones down (this will darken the highlight areas).
again, let me know if you have questions.
