Old spiral staircase in the Franklin, MA firestation - now torn down. This shot started as a B&W, was inverted, solarized (by PSE), then inverted back (I think), and tweaked slightly for tone.
I'm not sure if I should crop it some - the top bothers me, but the stairs need somewhere to go.

You got an interesting combination of negative + positive. And great tones.

I'm not sure how you could crop it, I don't think you need to anyhow. The tonality looks really good. Is that black spray paint on the top base of the stairway?

Nice! Intriguing subject and great image quality. I tried cropping more at the top, and think you nailed it just right. The only way to improve the top would have been to take along a girlfriend with nice legs to dangle into the top of the photo. It's an elegant and subtile job of solarizing. An image editor gives you better control over the process than high contrast film developed and partially reversed in Solarol developer. You did this without your new Cambo; just think of what you might be doing next week!

Thanks! I like the look of solarizing the negative instead of the print - PS was the only easy way to do it (and have control). The dark area at the top of the staircase was originally a blown out lamp, I think. The solarizing helped with that. I'll see if I can find the straight shot so you can see the difference. It isn't bad straight, but I solarized a print in the darkroom and realized it had more possibilities.

Interesting effect Bethe. Done very nice. I prefer this one over the other, however, both stand alone wonderfully.
