Kookaburra (a species of kingfisher), but who really cares? It's just a fantastic shot! Every detail of the bird and branch is sharp, the background colour is complementary.... Lovely

really?! I had some kingfisher shots from the zoo as well, but I decided not to edit them because of the glare on the glass enclosure...and between looking at these and the kingfishers I just kept thinking that they've got to be atleast 2nd cousins

Thay had one of these on letterman last night. They are very loud. It's call is the background for all the Tarzan movies, which is kinda funny because they're from Austrailia. Very nice shot - just the right fill in on a light colored bird.

Hey Jumpinminnow, Sorry I missed that comment. I actually saw that Letterman, and I NEVER watch letterman. Thanks for the comment, the zoo I was at just set that up just right for me  Sorry again I missed the comment, I've been too busy to be active, and I've got a ton of images I need to post
