Shot I took a few years ago in Palm Springs. I was happy the sun was going down behind the mountains as it was a very hot day.

I'd much rather be looking at a photo of the desert when it's that hot rather than be standing in the middle of it--thanks for suffering thru the heat in order to capture this wonderful scene and for sharing it with us. Looks like this scene was difficult to expose for. It's been my experience that the very bright areas in these types of clouds are impossible to expose for. Even rendering everything else black will not prevent parts of the clouds from being blown out. So given the situation--unless you happened to have a strong ND grad you could have used--I think you've done an admirable job considering the impossible highlights. Regarding the post-processing: I do see a halo along the top of the mountains--looks like it might have been from the shadow/highlight tool?? If it is from the shadow/highlight tool, sometimes playing around with the second and third highlight sliders will eliminate a halo. Or better yet, selectively work only those areas you want to adjust the shadows on to avoid the halo all together.
Sorry if I sound really nitpicky...it's a good shot, great color, interesting scenic...I like it.

Hi Barbara, yes, the halo is from using that tool, and no, you are not being nitpicky. I always appreciate imput that will help me to make a stronger image. Keep the comments coming, I learn from each one.

By the way, thanks for taking time to share your expertise.
