This is not a scene most people are likely to see everyday. It may once have been so but no longer. It is a throwback to another era that has passed many communities and makes for a wonderful story. I like the conversion to B&W, and the angle of view. Almost that of someone contemplating moving toward the chair for a haircut. Barbara says you should add some vignetting at the corners to add to the vintage atmosphere.
