Motor City, Baby!
I wanted to try something a little different with this shoot by taking a slightly more unconventional approach. I shot a lot of wide angle, and tried to keep my composition and subject matter as 'modern' looking as possible. I focused on shapes and lines of the city and we constructed the poses from there. The lighting today was %$@#!. But I worked around it with the SB800 speedlight.
Our angles were wide.
Our poses were weird.
Our light sucked.
We had fun being rebels.
"learn the rules of photography, then break them". thought I'd take a whirl.
Would love to hear your feedback/critiques on these...the good, the bad, the ugly, what you like, don't like, etc...
Thanks for viewing..
cheers!
Chris

It's funny. I read Fred's first couple of sentences and then looked back at the photo and thought to myself, "Yeah, but look at those legs!" Then I went back and finished reading. I'm glad it wasn't just me who noticed.

I like the background except for the stairs at the right. The graffiti hints at a possible personality of Sarah, and thus adds to the photo. I like the model even more. The lighting works well with the strong graphics.

Yay Sarah! I missed her.
I like the bright colors and you did a fine job with controlling the light and shadows.
I'm not sure I like the disconnect between her "classic country" outfit and the "modern urban" graffiti.

Well, I think the background is great! I think it's a very modern approach to model photography. I really like all the ones you have posted, but this is my fave. You know I'm wierd anyway.... so of course I dig 'em!
