I've actually shot a lot of flowers - they can be lit indoors when the weather is cruddy, they don't move around, etc...
think it might work for B&W comp next week?

If this looks as good in a detailed enlargement, I'd choose it over the other two for the competition. The one daisy facing out of the picture adds a touch of mystery and appeals to my weird sense of humor. In PSE-3 the highlights aren't quite as bright as they might be. Maybe they are right for your digital printer, or could be brightened a bit with bleach in a traditional darkroom. Judging print quality from a small digital image isn't fair, though. I like it.

I was leaning towards this one, too. I also like the quirky one on the left. When I print it, it'll likely be on Ilford warmtone fiber. Maybe neutral. I'm thinking of just starting with a #2 1/2 filter - that should do a decent job of keeping the highlights. This was a negative scan that wasn't post-processed, so I posted it more for composition thoughts.
Glad you like it!

I love gerbera daisies and never would have thought of shooting them in B&W because their colors are always so beautiful. Well, these look GREAT! The monochrome really helps focus my eye on the beauty of their shape and not be distracted by the color. Nicely done!!

I printed this tonight (on Ilford warmtone fiber). I'll scan it once it's dry.
