I used a telephoto and its inherent narrow FOV to do so. The 2nd is against the another tree just leafing out. Which of the 1st 2 do you prefer? Canon 20D, 70-200mm f4L @ 184 ISO100, f4, 1/100 sec

This technique seems to work better, exposure-wise, using a darker background. With this having such a bright b/g the colours of the flowers appear a bit flat. Maybe you could use a bit of fill flash or HDR technique to even the exposure?

Pretty shot otherwise.
