Hi Fred, you may be right on the over-sharpening. Here are setting using PSE 5:
Amount - 20
Radius - 2.0
Threshold - 0
Any suggestions?
BTW, thanks for taking the time to look, comment, and help.

Sergio, those settings wouldn't normally be something that I would consider a problem but I guess it depends on the size of the jpeg to start with. I often work from a larger image to start with. I mean if you are applying those setting to the 600 x 450 pixel image above, then it could be that the radius is too big. Try something in the range of:
Amount = 50 to 80 range
Radius = 0.6 to 1.0 range
Threshold = 3 to 4 range
Tweak while viewing "actual pixels" and if you want use the unsharp mask on another layer and adjust the opacity slider to fine tune the results, flatten layers and you're done.
