A mecca for many flyfisherman. Once (and in my lifetime) relatively unknown, it nows see lots of pressure (relatively) but is now much better managed thru the Nature Conservancy.
This is an incredible natural fishery of wild trout including brook, rainbow, and browns in the middle of Idaho. What makes it incredible is the spring creeks, rich in minerals to support abundant aquatic insect life, sustain even flows, temperatures, and abundant feed for a heavy fish population.
Here is a merged (2 UWA) photo looking due north showing the west-east valley orientation. To some it just looks like an inconsequential small stream meandering thru a relatively featureless high plains farming valley. I doubt there is a more abundantly fertile long stretch of water (w/ public access) in No. America.

Very nice stitch work and a beautiful scene. You may be right about the fertility of this creek. There is some very fine fishing streams in the Idaho, Montana, Wyoming area.

Fred,
Yeah, as noted flyfishing author Charles Brooks stated: within 100 mile radius of West Yellowstone lies arguably the most trout fishing in the world. I wouldn't know but I have tried to confirm it ;-)
