Terrific series, Russ!! It's cool seeing them all side by side this way. Too bad those folks walked into the frame while you were shooting. You could try burning in the light colored top of the adult to make them less obvious. Did you shoot more series like this? I'd love to see them.

Barbara,
Thanks for the comments. Yes, I did try burning (and blurring) the background. Note the batting cages crossbar in frames 3 & 5. I had sequenced these, post processed them including burning and finally dodging back out the darkened sections on the crossbar.....then I realized that I'd screwed up the sequence w/ 3 & 4. Several undo's and other gyrations later I had them done correctly....but I forgot to "redodge" the crossbars. Yes, the lady's bright white coat was distracting. I guess that's why an f2.8 lens and associated blurred background would have been better ($$$$). Hard to retouch background with chain link!!!

I can see how using the burn tool and blurring that area in each frame would be excrutiatingly tedious. What about just selecting the light jacket--working first top then bottom sections individually (avoiding the crossbar of the fence) and use the right hand output slider (very bottom) in Levels to selectively affect the whites but nothing else?
What lens were you thinking about getting? I hear ya about all the $$$. I have the same lens as the one you used--f 4.0 sometimes just doesn't cut it.

nice series, as a variation of what barbara is talking about, try using one of the channels as a mask.. you'll have to blacken out the girl afterward in the mask.
